New York Governor, Eliot Spitzer, Caught With Prostitute

New York Governor Eliot Spitzer was caught on a federal wiretap arranging to meet a high paid prostitute in Washington. This is in the New York Times today. He is refereed to as client 9 in the phone call, it was later revealed that client was indeed the Governor. Spitzer made a brief statement today in which he did not mention his future political Career. He has not had a very good first year in office, but his party is expected to take a large part of both houses in this years election. Federal prosecutors rarely press charges for prostitution, seeing it as a state matter, but they can if they feel it is necessary. The affidavit says that the client met with Spitzer on Feb. 13, in room 871 of Mayflower Hotel in Washington. Here are parts of Spitzers remarks: “I have disappointed and failed to live up to the standard I expected of myself. I must now dedicate some time to regain the trust of my family.” “I have acted in a way that violates my obligation to my family and violates my or any sense of right or wrong,” “I apologize first and most importantly to my family. I apologize to the public to whom I promised better.”

I think they hold us to higher standards than they posses themselves. Spitzer made a career of prosecuting people for this very same reason. The shoe fits him now.

None of this is really surprising to me. People are acting as though our government officials are not corrupt and are not engaging in illegal and immoral acts themselves, especially the GOP. Honestly, the only reason why the GOP is calling for an impeachment is to not risk any exposure to themselves. Notice, Spitzer is client 9. How many clients does she have on the high end of the political arena, really? This stuff is as old as the Bible, folks. People in public trust are the same corruptible human beings as kings that God took out. Until some real news hits the newsstands, I'm going back to sleep.

I concur with nyne elementz...the only reason this was of any interest to me is because he was spending, like, $5500/hr to be with her....I was like, damn, I'm in the wrong business....lol...whether or not he should have stepped down...I don't think so...look at who came in after him...dude is legally blind, and admitted on his first day having multiple extramarrital affairs...the grass isn't greener, NY.
