Prysmatic Dreamers
Two simple words that make you wonder what it means.
Jotter expected it, predicted it and projected it.
Tony and Othello connected to it.
Even Ernel in Connecticut kept it close to his heart.
Amina wasn’t there from the start but she’s playing her part
Albeit, as I see it, she, Dred and Epiphany to us came through sheer fate.
The Dubber called it a WHOLE damn thought in a world still HALF baked.
Dain Brammage applied it to our sexuality and the choices that we make.
The trails we tread and the paths we take.
“My name is Dawn motherfucker Dawn” the self esteem queen
used it to describe her spirit.
Spyrit said it was cool. Mo didn’t really care. She just loved the atmosphere.
It always got her high. .
Geovanni Marcel understood fully. “What, Who, When, Where AND why. “
Back in the day Soldja Sin wrote a declaration called “i am prysmatic”
all in lower case.
Versatyle said we’re known to cause static. And Wise Poet added “in your face.”
Tribal said “fukem if they can't hang!”
After 9/11 Nyne Elementz made us into paper terrorists with a much bigger bang,
NWO Word Warriors criss crossing the country like "soldiers, soldiers" in 08 & 09 doindadamnthang. Laying our life on the line.
We even took the tour up top one time with Erik Moore one time,
The Recipe, Essence, Evan, Brandon and Zach. As a matter of fact.
Let’s not backtrack,
I can go down memory lane all day long and never look back.
I’d rather try to get to the conclusion.
The less confusion there is the better.
Dun loved it.
Dub Dubbed it.
Obama flubbed it.
Actually he fucked it up pretty bad.
I should have told him to kiss my ass the first time we met.
Now I wish that I had.
I AM NOT A FUCKING MUTT!
That was my prysmatic meaning whenever I was prysmaticly dreaming.
I was often thinking about Martins brotherhood table wish and about Malcolm’s near miss.
About Cointelpro, Jim Crow, Willy lynch, uncle toms and Loving laws,
about how because my father was white he couldn’t marry my mother outright
until after I was born an unwanted bastard and lost.
But like Tavis, Othello & Tabu we outlasted any evil.
It was never about a single person and always about the power of people.
We put poetry over music and like Hanadadrumma AKA "Jo" for those in the know,
it never really toppled, it just tilted.
Breeze, Tammy, Consuela, Rob, Kenya, Izzy, legacy and NuEshe helped build it.
Infamous and Amberly nearly killed it.
There are people like a past pastor in Paterson New Jersey
who can tell you when prysmatic was enacted damn near to the date.
It’s a word that’s been used to overcome bigotry, ignorance and hate.
To indicate unity. fellowship, solidarity and spiritual health in social practice..
There are little PD poets like Little Raine, Isis, Kerah, Zach and Sal
who have never known themselves as anything else but Prysmatic.
Ask Los, Shy Fox, or Chris if this is what America missed and still wished that it had it.
If the truth be heard you can us this word like a loose leaf verb and learn to live it.
Merriam Webster may have defined us and made us timeless
but you’re the one to actually give it…
meaning.
Noun: -A living bridge between peoples, races and nations
Verb: -to defy cultural, social or historically imposed limitations.
Now you've been edified on the enterprise,
and hopefully ready to get energized enough to take these two words and pass it.
We are not color blind. We are Color FULL
