Come on poets. We almost lost this opportunity for lack of participation. Get involved in the future of this genre and stop letting everyone else be an actionist. What other major music site even gives poets the props they deserve? reverb nation? NO! We don't even merit a category. myspace? NO. Music nation? NO. soundclick? it sucks and everyone knows it.
Not only are we treated as equals in the site but there are prizes galore. For everything from winning the $100 monthly contest/$5000 finals to cash just for being involved in the voting process or just having the biggest fan list!.
It's ridiculous NOT to support something that supports us.
What do you need? Exposure? Well hows this. My label mate TLM entered a contest to do a collab with T-PAIN. She came in 4th in the world. her single got over 10,000 listens in less than a month. Is that enough exposure?
Do you need some practical tools? OS has one of, if not THE best EPK out. Much better than sonic bids which makes you pay. And the OS EPK IS FREE!
Looking to network? There are people from all parts of the globe networking @ OS right now. My first international collaboration came thanks to ourstage. Since then I've done several and have been getting radio play in frikkin London England as well as Germany!
Really, the only thing missing is you actively participating. Everything you might need to succeed is already there.
Now I know some people have an issue with the voting process. But let me just say that I've been in a number of competitions from different sites and OS has the best voting system bar none. No vote whoring where people are begging you 100 times a day to vote for them and they'll vote for you. it doesn't work that way which I'm very happy about. The bottom line is OS is a MUSIC DISCOVERY site. So voting accomplishes 2 things. 1 - just the act of voting helps everyone even if you never get to vote for a specific person or track. 2- there are some AMAZING works to be discovered. Just listen to the top tracks on the Spoken Word or Alt Hip Hop stage and you'll be blown away. That's the WHOLE idea. for YOU to start networking and find some wonderful gems along the way.

So. now I've explained much and given you my 2 cents. The rest is in your hands.

DICARLO. trust me bro. I know how your feel about much of OS. Fortunately we don't have to deal with many of the issues other stages have simply due to our forum size and the support we give each other in our genre. It's not as cutthroat as other genres. Something I'm very proud of..
