A Wordsmith and So Much More!

As a poet born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, AM paints lyrical word portraits of the human condition as she experiences it; passionately and with vibrant hues that depict the perfection and fallibility of day to day Life. As a writer since the age of nine, AngelaMichelle has been christened a passionate writer who gives her readers vivid, well-rounded characters and settings that capture the essence of classic story telling. Her works have earned the attention and admiration of such notable authors as Linda Dominique Grosvenor, Tina Brooks-McKinney, Peggy Eldridge-Love, Carla J. Curtis and Natalie L. Darden.
Poetic Essence (ISBN 0-9740854-1-3) , her highly anticipated first poetry collection, was released through LeAdfooT Press in 2002, followed by its companion, Four Colourful Tales (ISBN 0-9740854-48) which demonstrated AM’s flare for weaving imaginative narratives that are full of life. As her desire to express grew, so did her literary dream. With the support of her family and loyal readers AngelaMichelle opened her own small press, The Essence Press, in 2003 and breathed life into three more chapbook titles independently: Erotic Essence (2003) a collection of sensual and erotic poetry, More Colourful Tales (2003) a compilation of chapter excerpts from four of her novels in progress, and Ramblings from the Editors Chair (2004) which contains writing related articles from AngelaMichelle’s efforts as Editor-in-Chief of the now defunct Essence Ezine (2003 2004).
In addition to these publishing accomplishments, AM’s independent works of poetry and prose have been published in various Internet mediums such as Seven Seas Magazine (March 2003), Chaotic Dreams Online Literary Ezine (Co-Editor and monthly contributor), The Underground Poets Society (guest poet and 2003 contest winner), Words Words Words Literary Ezine (spotlight poet December 2003). Her print credits include Awareness Magazine (Poetic Justice - July August 2003) Misadventures of Moms and Disasters of Dads (contributor - Moms In Print - ISBN 0-9753558) and Booking Matters Magazine (Poetry In Motion - August 2004). In early 2006 AM added an audio credit to her portfolio as a participant of Prysmatic Dream ’s THE SESSION Tele-Cipher (Session 4 May 2006), reciting lyrics along side PD and New Word Order co-founder Maximus Parthas and Uma Bin Hassan of The Last Poets.
Presently residing in Columbus, OH, AngelaMichelle promotes her witing as an Associated Content Contributor, provides freelance editing (literary and Web) and book reviews for self published authors and is working on the 2010 release of her debut novel, All Things Done in the Dark.
