Jelani is a graduate of Richland Northeast High School in Columbia, SC as well as a graduate of Stratford College of Art in Hilton Head Island, S.C. with a degree in Photography. He also attended the Atlanta College of Art in Atlanta, Ga. majoring in Electronic Arts. He was also a former Police Officer for Morehouse College in Atlanta, Ga and a former Deputy Sheriff with the Richland County Sheriff’s Dept. in Columbia, SC. He began DJing and producing Hip Hop music in 1986 and in 1991 he signed a production deal with an Atlanta based independent record label called Mass Appeal Records. In 1992 Militant Muzic Productions was established in Atlanta, Ga. In 1998 Jelani moved back to Columbia, SC where he disc jockeyed for a popular night club and produced various unsigned artist. In May 2006, Jelani established the Militant Muzic Group, LLC. In July of the same year he partnered up with Arieas “AJ” Lee & Aaron Johnson and opened Quantum Beats Recording Studio.
