Tell us about yourself
My name is Queen Campbell and I adapted to that name once I wedded my king. I was raised in Brooklyn, NY which I owe all of my basic survival skills and appreciation for education. Ok, short version: I went to all of my schools in Brooklyn, and never moved out of the city. I met my husband in 2000 while attending NYC Technical College. I had our first Prince Kavadee in 2001. We moved from Brooklyn to Eastover, SC in 2002. I married and became Queen Campbell alongside of King Campbell in 2003. I had our second Prince in 2004, We moved again to Columbia, SC in 2005. In 2010 we're expecting the arrival of Pincess Nykoi!

Since this is the about me portion I will not hold back from the horn tooting I am about to do. I can do a vast amount of things from song/poetry writing, to novel work, cooking, dance instruction which includes jazz, modern, ballroom, Latin and yes hip-hop. I'm an aspiring full-figure model and you can check me out at www.modelmayhem.com Mayhem #453541. I'm bringing sexy back for the thick one's :) To be honest, I can do anything I put my mind to and so can everyone else. They have just been conditioned to think that they're unable. My mother (miss you ma) told me a long time ago that there is no such word as "CAN'T". I prove that time and time again.

A lot of people who knew me for years did not predict that I could project my mindstate this far. So I guess they didn't know much of me, huh? That's fine. I have a lot to be happy for in spite of such. Even with all the "I'm broke" days and "I want to cry" hours. I stand up and get by it. If I can watch a woman who lived her life to provide for her children and then become ridden in a hospital bed with hours of breath left in her due to terminal lung cancer have a smile on her face and exclaim how happy she is to go "home", what the hell do I have to feel sad about? So what's your story of your survival? And don't even think of saying that you "can't" tell me. Because the fact that you've read this far says you can!
Bless!

And?

A persistent tap on my left shoulder revealed the voice of a young woman without a body to preceed it.
Not even a hello said yet she began to speak.
"Hmph! Where should I begin?
You have nothing for the everyday eye to prove that you are special.
You're not the size 6 you once were the 8th wonder you wish or the 10 you claim when I look at you. You're hair is curly which brings next kinky which with no moisturizers you're nappy again.
Wigs adorn your crown so but Queen Campbell? I think not.

I Know

I speak on what I know. Now, Remember this statement because the promise is I tell no tales of things I know not. I speak on what I know. I know young girls still know nothing about how to gain the eye of the opposite gender by dressing for success instead of dressing for sucsex. I know of women, grown women are on this thug nigga tip. I know you express you want that street hood so loudly but cover scars and make excuses like "I fell down the stairs..." but you live in a one level apartment. Yo… Continue

Breathing

One of the first pieces I wrote as a mother after losing mine.

I woke up this morning with a strange feeling that was a mix of anxiety, unsureness and routine. I was dragging to get out of the bed and although I didn't have to go to work, I just didn't want to deal with the day. That was until I stepped into the bathroom to cleanse myself of the subtle nightmares of seeing my mother's face but she doesn't speak and looking in a mirror to see a motherless child when my Prince Kavadee walked in… Continue
