Born and Raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, Janine Nash, aka "Lady J" is a Poet and singer with years of performance and studio experience..."J" has performed alongside prominent poets such as Taalam Acey, Abyss, Tasha Jones, Tommy Bottoms, Red Storm, 'Nam, and others. With her band Shades of J she's opened for Howard Hewitt, Bloodstone, Slave, Barrington Henderson( Former lead singer for the Temptations), Kirk Whalum, and Rayse Biggs (Trumpeter for Kem). As a writer J has penned songs with former Earth, Wind and Fire guitarist Sheldon Reynolds and original member Ralph Johnson as well collabs with bandmates & producers Dee M & Eric B......She has also written and performed on the recently released “Devoted Spirits CD, “The Answer”.
J's band/ Collective Shades of J performs a blend of soulful R&B and Jazz with thought-provoking spoken word. Delivering inspirational messages with a seductive vibe; the sets have been described from “Unique and Soul Stirring” to a “Quiet Revolution”. J makes a sincere and intimate connection while performing for her audience- It's as though they were sitting in her living room. The Shades of J experience can perform Live with as many as a 6-piece band to a more intimate acoustic set with guitar, etc.......
