- Hailing from Italy, Simply Sil currently resides in Nashville, Tennessee.
Known worldwide for her amazing ability to be a lyrical vessel,
she soulfully connects with her audience using her gift of
poetic testaments and conscious lessons. Her versatility
is enough to sway you romantically or touch you spiritually.
Simply Sil’s crafty word play entices the mind and
sooths the soul.
Her ecliptic lyrics harness reality, experience and current events.
She takes you to a higher state of mental elevation to
entice self awareness.
Simply Sil has had the great opportunity to share the
stage with many amazing artists and has opened for several DEF Poetry
Jams artists and friends, including Triple Black, Black Ice, Red Storm,
Georgia ME, Cocktails, Abyss, jessica Care-Moore and J-Ivy to name a few.
In her travels as a motivational speaker and spoken word
artist, Simply Sil has performed in several US venues including New
York’s Nuroyican Café, Atlantas 7 stages Theatre, The Loft The
Roof, The Jaya Monkey Café, Tennessee State University, The Frothy
Monkey, Vanderbilt University, MTSU, African Street Festival,
The Homeless Power Project, MLK Day, Nashville Peace and Justice Center,
The Bellcourt Theatre and many Coffee Shops throughout the USA and
Europe, Public schools, local Cable TV, correctional facilities and
even Street Corners!
Her calendar included hosting Lyrical Lava at Scojos on 2nd Ave North
every Thursday evening and a monthly event she hosted at the Famous Kijijis Coffee House on Jefferson Street, in Nashville Tennessee.
Currently she is working on her third CD project as well as getting ready
to tour the USA in the summer.
As Founder of Ink Diva Productions,
she takes on the diligent role of Director and Producer for her annual "Women of Words"
fundraiser event; being a domestic violence survivor herself
she wanted to ensure women used their voices (and many talents!)
thus created this event to benefit the YWCA Women Shelter.
This year, however, the 4th annual benefit was a fundraiser
for the Meharry Women Center for HIV/AIDS research.
Simply Sil felt that, although domestic violence is still a topic dear to her heart,
our communities are suffering from this epidemic and a conversation
had to be started; she successfully partnered with several women artists
in town and was able to deliver a very powerful and diverse message
where arts and awareness went hand in hand!
In addition to being nominated for the Southern Entertainment Awards, Simply Sil
is a writer for a bi-monthly online magazine and
co-hosts a weekly online radio show entitled "Every Woman",
focusing on the struggles, victories, strengths and the
survival tactics of artists and how their art form has helped them
throughout their journeys.
Her work has been featured in many publications
including the Nashville RAGE", "The Scene", "The Tennessean" as well
as online magazines and e-anthology publications.
She is also the recipient of several Poetry awards
and the winner of Slams and Spoken Word/Poetry competitions.
This past April "Bridge your Soulful Journeys"
awarded her the 2008 Margareth-Beach Award for
dedication to Poetry and the Community.
She is also the recipient of the 2007 "Poetic Ambassador" from
"The New Word Order" and the featured artist
for the month of June 2008 on the site www.idmwear.com
Simply Sil ("The InkDiva") is the host of the
bi-monthly event "The New Open Mic Set"
at Stillwaters Cafe' in Nashville Tn.
Fame and notoriety has never changed this “city girl” and her
message...there is NOTHING SIMPLE about her INK.
