Once on a dark and gloomy day
I thought I heard a knock
I snarled at the intruder
And quickly turned the lock
"Good morning, sir. I've come to ask
How much a minute's worth
If I could take you back in time
To any place on Earth."
"Obnoxious kid, you see my door
Says no soliciting
So please respect my privacy
I've more important things."
"I promise not to waste your time.
Just name an old regret.
I'll take you back to set it right.
And you'll be glad we met."
"Boy, don't make me repeat myself.
I'm telling you to leave.
You trespass and you waste my time.
Your games I won't believe."
"There must be something you would change.
How 'bout your childhood friend
That you stung with your hateful words
Before he met his end?"
"Police cars they will soon arrive.
Kid, I won't stand for lies.
I never had this boyhood friend
Or caused a suicide."
"You're speaking with his ghost right now.
I'll haunt you to your death
Make those you love all turn on you
Before your dying breath."
I swung my hand to slap the boy
But it passed through thin air.
I heard malicious laughter, but
No one was standing there.
I had a stroke and lost my speech
Went to a nursing home
Stared at a broken tv set
Until I died alone.
My restless soul now roams the Earth
To spread my curse to you.
If I could take you back in time
What wrong would you undo?
Don't tell me you're not interested.
I know of your dark deeds.
My misery seeks company.
I think you'll meet my needs.
